Kids Martial Arts at 360 Defense Windham

Kids Martial Arts at 360 Defense Windham
We’re not just teaching punches and kicks—we’re building strong, confident kids who know how to handle themselves in any situation.

At 360 Defense, our kids’ program combines self-defense, fitness, and life skills in a fun, structured environment. Your child will learn practical techniques from Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—skills they can actually use to stay safe and stand up for themselves, both physically and verbally.

We put a big focus on confidence, discipline, and respect—values that show up in every class. Kids are taught how to stay calm under pressure, how to follow directions, and how to treat others with kindness while still standing up for themselves. Whether your child is shy, high-energy, or somewhere in the middle, we help bring out their best.

Classes are upbeat, engaging, and filled with a mix of learning and fun. Kids train hard, laugh often, and leave feeling proud of what they’ve accomplished. And with supportive coaches and a positive group of peers, they’re surrounded by people who want to see them succeed—on and off the mat.

What Makes Our Kids Program Different?

Real Self-Defense Skills
We teach age-appropriate techniques that are effective and easy to learn. From how to stay safe around strangers to how to deal with bullies, your child will be prepared—not scared. They’ll learn how to speak up, stay calm under pressure, and use their body if they need to.

Confidence That Shows Up Everywhere
As kids get better on the mats, they start to walk taller, speak clearer, and believe in themselves more. That confidence carries into school, home, sports—everywhere. And it’s one of the biggest reasons parents love this program.

Structure, Discipline, and Respect
We keep classes fun and high-energy, but structured. Kids learn how to follow directions, stay focused, and treat others with respect—without losing their personality. Our goal isn’t to “toughen them up”—it’s to help them grow into strong, capable young people.

A Positive, Supportive Community
Our team works hard to create a space where every child feels safe, seen, and supported. No cliques. No chaos. Just a group of good kids learning, growing, and pushing themselves in all the right ways.

A Message from our Chief Instructor, Coach Charlie McShane

My name is Charlie McShane. I’m the Head Instructor at 360 Defense Martial Arts in Norwich, CT. I’ve been teaching the kids of New London county since 2002, and I think I can help you if you’re serious about equipping your child with some real life-skills.

I’ve seen it over and over again. A parent is seeing a specific problem in their son or daughter. Maybe it’s a lack of respect, inability to listen, or shyness, and they need help. They’ve tried threatening, punishment, bargaining – and none of it has worked. Within weeks of starting karate classes, the habit begins to disappear, and even be replaced by new skills.

It's happened before... a parent comes to me, holding back tears, and tells me they can’t believe what my Martial Arts classes have done for their child.

When this happens, I always wonder the same things. What would this child have been like if they’d never had the martial arts experience? If they’d never learned to truly focus or set goals? If they’d skipped this part of their development entirely and gone through life, never understanding self-discipline or self-control? Or worse, never having had the confidence to try?

Sometimes my imagination is confirmed when I run into an ex-student. Maybe they’re in high school, college, or even beyond college – and they tell me THEY can’t imagine what it would have been like to not have had martial arts in their lives, that they don’t even know where they would be today if they hadn’t had that structure and positive reinforcement as a kid.

It makes what I do at my little martial school seem very, very important. That’s why I take it seriously when someone like you comes to me looking for help...

LET'S SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S MENTAL AND PHYSICAL GROWTH.
